On the morning of June 21, the Signing Ceremony of Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between the Central Academy of Drama and the China Broadcasting Performing Arts Troupe was held at the Changping campus of the Academy. Liu Xuejun, Head of China Broadcasting Performing-Arts Troupe, Hao Rong, President of the CAD, and VP Sun Daqing attended the ceremony, with Sun acting as the host.

Meeting of Both Sides

Presidents Hao Rong first extended a warm welcome to Liu Xuejun and his delegation for their visit. He said that the CAD, as the first higher educational institution of theatre in PRC and included in the ‘Double First-Class’ Project, focused on the training of professionals in theatre, film and television arts and stage design. In 2022, Melodious Art, ‘Quyi’ was included into the categories of undergraduate majors and disciplines in general colleges and universities, and the CAD, who started to offer a course in Quyi, would work to build an educational system that combined modern drama with Xiqu (Traditional Chinese Opera) and Quyi. Meanwhile, China Broadcasting Performing-Arts Troupe has been preserving the national intangible cultural heritage of ‘crosstalk’, or ‘xiangsheng’, as the only national-level performing group of Melodious Art in China. Prof. Hao believed this would be the perfect time for both sides to improve the training mode for the major of Quyi, so as to jointly pass on the spirit of traditional art.

The two sides then signed the Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation.

The attendees of the ceremony include persons-in-charge from the Troupe, crosstalk actors Fang Qingping and Jia Xuming, and directors of academic and administrative departments from the CAD.
