On December 14, 2023, President Hao Rong of the CAD met with Director Gillian Cho of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), who came to visit the CAD and signed the new MoU between the two institutions, along with Dr. Forrest Chan, Principal Head of External Affairs and Strategic Planning. Director Ju Ping of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs and Project Manager Xiang Yueyi attended the meeting as well.

President Hao first expressed the warmest welcome to the two guests. The CAD, according to Hao, prioritized its relation with HKAPA and would love to deepen and widen the cooperation. He praised the interdisciplinary way of education and recalled the good times when he was teaching at HKAPA. Prof. Choa also shared her reminiscence of giving lectures at the CAD.

Prof. Choa approved of the CAD’s continuous efforts in disciplinary exploration, and expressed her willingness to strengthen the cooperation with the CAD in terms of student and faculty mobility, academic conference, and joint production. She extended her delight at the sight of the new look of Changping Campus, and her interest in the CAD’s planning of the new campus and the reservation of the old one.

Dr. Forrest Chan spoke of the evolution and achievement of musicals in Hong Kong in response to Prof. Hao’s introduction to the CAD’s original musical.

At the end of the meeting, President Hao Rong and Director Gillian Choa signed to renew the MoU between the CAD and HKAPA and expected more fruitful results in the following five years.
