The ceremony of the Golden Lion Awards in 2012 was held on Dec.1. Prof. DING Ruru, Prof. LIU Hongmei, Prof. SUN Daqing and Prof. WU Yajun of the Academy were awarded respectively for Best Directing, Best Acting, Best Set Design, and Best Playwriting.

The Golden Lion Awards began in 1989, and was then called the "Theatre Prosperity Awards". It is a national prize for theatre granted by the Ministry of Publicity and the Ministry of Culture. In the history of the Golden Lion Awards, 14 of our alumni such as HE Jiping, WANG Hong, and LIU Shen have won Golend Lion Awards for Best Playwriting. 56 alumni, such as XIN Baiqing, ZHOU Kui, TAO Hong, QIN Hailu, and JIN Dong have won prizes for Best Acting. 19 productions of the Academy have won prizes for Best Play.
