Dean of UCLA TFT visited the CAD

On June 24, President Hao Rong of the Central Academy of Drama (CAD) met with Prof. Brian Kite, Dean of the School of Theater, Film, and Television (TFT) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and Ms. Yulia Mylnikova, Director of the Library of the Elling Eide Center. Attendees also include Mr. Liu Yang with China Association of Performing Arts, a former producer at Beijing People's Art Theatre and a researcher at the China Film Merchandising Industry Research Institute, along with Chen Yi and Xiang Yueyi from the Foreign Affairs Office of the CAD.

After learning about CAD’s academic departments, Kite introduced that UCLA TFT comprises two departments: ‘Theater’ and ‘Film, Television & Digital Media’. The former offers such courses as Acting, Directing, Playwriting, Design for Theatre & Entertainment, and Theater & Performance Studies, while programs such as Production/Directing, Animation, and Cinematography are provided at the latter. Kite expressed his desire to establish a cooperative relationship with the CAD, a top institution in China for theater and film arts.

Hao shared that he was impressed by the artistic atmosphere at UCLA, before he provided details about joint training programs for students and faculty exchange projects mentioned by Kite. Hao emphasized that the CAD values diversity and international perspectives, seeking friendly cooperation and cultural exchange with top art institutions worldwide with an open attitude. He added that Kite's visit would be a starting point for both sides to explore potential areas of collaboration based on common interests.

After the meeting, Kite and the other guests toured the CAD’s Theatre Centre and Film & TV Art Building, guided by Ms. Liu Yuanjun, Vice Director of the Practice-based Education Centre, and colleagues from the same department.
