In order to explore the development trend of the performing market and to enhance professional communication and collaboration between outstanding theatre groups world widely, China Collaborative Innovation Center for Theatre Arts Management hosted the 2nd International Forum of Theatre Group Management Master Workshop on 6th - 8th June 2014, at The Central Academy of Drama, China, to research and discuss together methods of theatre management and to share experiences in marketing operations. This Workshop, which lasted 3 days, invited general managers, experts and scholars from world-renowned theatre groups home and abroad.

Prof. Liu libin, Chairman of Executive Committee of The Central Academy of Drama, China, Prof. Xu Xiang, President of the academy, 15 international experts from 11 countries, representatives from 14 member organizations, representatives from embassies and leaders from 60 Chinese theatre companies and groups attended the opening ceremony.

In the three days of master workshop, the 15 experts from 11 countries brought wonderful presentations and lectures which are full of manager’s experience and thinking. They shared with the audience common experience of theatre management discipline in a diversified international environment, and had further communication with regard to theatre management in theatre companies and groups, theatre education and development, ticket pricing and government cultural policy.

This master workshop provides a platform for theatre managers to communicate, to share experience and methods of management, to broaden the view of theatre management and to promote the development of theatre management by gathering them together from various countries and background.

On June 9th, experts and representatives from National Theatre, UK, Vienna State Opera, Austria, Comedie Francaise, France, National Theatre of Greece, Saint Petersburg State Drama Theatre «Priyut Komedianta», Russia, National Theatre of Scotland, UK, Popejoy Hall, USA, Teatro Stabile Di Torino, Italy and The National Theatre,Japan paid a visit to Changping campus. They spoke highly of facilities and scale of the new campus, and expressed admiration for our long history and great achievements in the field of theatre education.

President Xu Xiang met with the foreign experts. They gave highly recognition and praise for the 2nd International Forum of Theatre Group Management Master Workshop, and had an in-depth exchange with regard to professional curriculum, training objective and international exchange program. Finally, all participants expressed willingness of having further cooperation, and hoped to promote the development of theatre management with practical action together.
