From May 8 to 19, 2006, the CAD invited Ms. Li Ying from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to give lectures on ‘Project Management’ to the students of the Department of Art Management who were enrolled in 2003.

Ms. Li Ying is the Head of the Stage and Technical Management Department at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She possesses extensive experience in stage management and coordinating international events. She has previously served as the Technical Supervisor for the Third and Fourth International Expo Arts Festival, Stage Supervisor for the 1997 Celebration Parade, and Chairperson of the Millennium Expo Arts New Era Fundraising Committee, among other roles. In the 2001-2002 academic year, Ms. Li Ying was selected as one of twelve global fellows of the Leadership Foundation under International Women's Forum and received leadership training in Montreal, Harvard, and Cambridge.

‘Project Management’ at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts was developed in response to the practical needs of the region. In Hong Kong, activities for such occasions as Disney, carnivals, theme parks, festivals, and hotel openings all fall within the scope of ‘project management’. Ms. Li Ying analyzed the career scope of graduates from the field of performing art management in Hong Kong and, based on her years of experience, advocated for the establishment of ‘Project Management’ as a major. Simultaneously, she aims to promote this major to the mainland of China to meet its developmental needs.

The lectures emphasize hands-on operation and execution details on the basis of macro control. This course expanded the teaching approach of the Arts Management Department at the Central Academy of Drama and broadened students' perspectives.

The lectures, although only lasting two weeks, left a profound impression on the students thanks to Ms. Li Ying's relaxed teaching style and rich course content, receiving positive feedback. At the conclusion of the course, the Central Academy of Drama appointed Ms. Li Ying as a visiting professor in the Department of Art Management, a role she gladly accepted. Ms. Li Ying expressed her delight during the appointment ceremony.

This teaching exchange activity marked a promising beginning for educational exchanges between the Central Academy of Drama and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
