From June 20 to 21, the 8th Summit of National Melodious Art Education was co-held by Chinese Ballad Singers Association and the Central Academy of Drama at Changping Campus. The summit was attended by over 70 representatives from China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Department of Degree Management and Graduate Education of MOE, Chinese Ballad Singers Association, the Central Academy of Drama, China Literature and Art Critics Association, National Alliance for Higher Education of Chinese Melodious Art, and educational institutions that offered course on Chinese Melodious Art. Yang Fahong, Party Branch Secretary at Chinese Ballad Singers Association, was the host of the Opening Ceremony.

Xu Yongsheng, Secretary of the CAD Party Committee, promised that the CAD would build on the essence of traditional Chinese culture, especially of the performing art of Chinese Melodious Art and theatre, to improve education in the arts of theatre, film and television with Chinese characteristics.

Theme as ‘Higher Education of Chinese Melodious Art: New Beginning and New Journey’, the summit lasted for 2 days, comprising of the opening ceremony, keynote speeches, panel discussions, and summary session. It is the mission of the summit to further identify the focus and combination points of higher education for promoting the inheritance and development of Chinese Melodious Art, and conduct in-depth exchanges and discussions on better training high-quality professionals of Chinese Melodious Art.
The summary session was hosted by President Hao Rong. He mentioned that the CAD has been working to advance the development of Chinese Melodious Art, or ‘Quyi’, in the past 3 years, and helped to include it into the categories of undergraduate majors and disciplines in general colleges and universities. Apart from starting to offer a course on Quyi, the CAD also put the development of Quyi as a discipline into the CAD’s medium-term and long-term plans.

During the summit, the representatives enjoyed the themed Quyi performances at the Proscenium Stage Theatre at Changping Campus.
