The Presentation of 1st Edition of Asian Traditional Theatre Workshops by UNESCO Chair on Theatre Education Came off Successfully

On the evening of September 23rd, a presentation of 1st Edition of Asian Traditional Theatre Workshops by UNESCO Chair on Theatre Education happened at the Changping campus.



Mr. Xu Xiang, Chairholder of UNESCO Chair on Theatre Education and President of The Central Academy of Drama, China, Mr. Waman Kendre, President of National School of Drama, India, and Madam Federica Lellici made a speech respectively, and then awarded certificates to the student representatives from China, India and Korea, before the presentation.



President Xu Xiang expressed that the establishment of UNESCO Chair on Theatre Education China-1st Edition of “Asian Traditional Theatre Workshops”, would be a platform for Asian teachers and students to share artistic thoughts, to offer more rich and vivid cases for education and research of traditional drama, and above all to help us explore the reference value and influence of traditional theatre education on actor training as well as on contemporary drama creation. The future of traditional drama should be characterized by harmonious coexistence of tradition and modernity, inheritance and transformation. Therefore, we believe there would be a significant meaning to launch and establish such a regular event for the communication and research of traditional theatre.
