On Nov.29 the symposium “New-type Training System of Stage Managers” was held by the Department of Theatre Management. Prof. XU Yongsheng, Vice President of the Academy and the Director of the Department of Theatre Management, moderated the symposium and directors and producers of major theatre companies in China, such as: LI Dong, the director of the Theatre Management Department of the National Theatre Company; GUAN Bo, the deputy director of the Production Department of the National Theatre Company; LIU Yang, a producer at the Beijing People’s Art Theatre Company; WU Jia, the director of the Marketing Department of Shanghai Theatre Art Centre; Zhou Ayong, the manager of the Marketing Department of Zhejiang Theatre Company Ltd.; FU Ruosheng, the Director of Beijing Zhe Teng Culture and Media Company Ltd.; and WANG Pengfei, the General Manager of Beijing Century Hua Peng Culture & Media Company Ltd. all attended the meeting.

Teachers from the Department of Theatre Management discussed the present situation of producers in China’s theatre market with the 7 directors and producers. The 7 producers shared their successful personal experiences and their ideas on theatre management. They also gave some constructive suggestions on the training program of the Department and the “Students’ Internship Handbook”, which is in the drafting process. At the symposium Prof. XU Yongsheng extended invitations to the 7 experts to attend the International Advanced Producer Exchange Meeting, which will be held next year.
