The announcement of the establishment of a national art school (as a part of the Ten-Year Project for Cultural Development by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism) is released on Jun 25, 1990. On Mar 08, 1993, K-Arts officially opened as a specialized arts institute with advanced teaching methods, world-class faculty and excellent facilities. In 1994, K-Arts opened the School of Drama, Korea’s only national drama school, and the Graduate Program of the School of Music to fully establish the system of a university

Now, in K-Arts, there are 3,544 students studying in 6 Schools and 27 Departments, including School of Music, School of Drama, School of Film, TV & Multimedia, School of Dance, School of Visual Arts, School of Korean Traditional Arts and Faculty of Arts and Liberal Studies.
