Philippe Ravanas graduated from the École Supérieure de Commerce – Marseille France in 1989 with a Master's degree in Business Administration and Finance. He then pursued his studies at the University of Wisconsin – Madison USA where he obtained a Master's degree in Business Mangement. Currently, he is appointed as Emeritus Chairman, Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at the Columbia College Chicago, USA.
Professor Ravanas previously held the position of Vice President of Public Relations for Disneyland Paris, where he played a key role in taking the company into the market, and collaborated with sponsors such as Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Procter & Gamble, and Nestle to develop marketing strategies for Pan-European Area. He is also an Associate Editor for The 'International Journal of Arts Management' and a writer for the 'Journal of Cultural Economics'. With teaching experience across countries including the United States, Canada, Russia, Spain, Austria and France, Professor Ravanas has also guided numerous cultural institutions in developing marketing plans.
His notable co-authored works included 'Marketing Culture and The Arts', and 'Marketing Planning for Culture and the Arts' (Chinese Edition) etc. His significant publications included 'Smart Start: Marketing and An American Paradox: How Can the Arts Flourish In A Country with No Formal Cultural Policy And Virtually No Public Funding For The Arts?' Additionally, he has published several articles in academic journals.
Philippe Ravanas was invited to our Academy to delivering a lecture on 'The Management of American Theatre Troupes' for graduates and undergraduates of Theatre Management Department. In 2019, he was invited again to attend the 4th National Symposium on Performing Arts Management organized by our Theatre Management Department. On the Symposium, He delivered a speech themed on 'Learning through Practice-Experiential Learning in Art Management Courses'.
