Margarete Schuler was born in Austria. She obtained the Master‘s Degree in Philosophy. In 1994, she got her Master‘s Degree in Fine Arts and actor‘s certificate at Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art Berlin. From 1994 to 1999, she worked as an actress in the national theatre in Graz Austria, then came back to Ernst Busch to become a guest professor in 2002. She was appointed as professor of Acting Studies, Vice Rector and Head of International Relations.
She did many workshops and master classes in Beijing, Shanghai, Moscow, St Petersburg, Lima, Sidney, Istanbul, Paris, Vienna, Oslo. As an expert in actor‘s basic training method created by the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art, She published the book Basis of Theatre Performing Art in 2010 to introduce this method deliberately. In 2012, the Motor Town directed by her got the “Special Award of the Jury”at the annual meeting of Germanspeaking Theatre Academies in Vienna.
Prof. Schuler was employed by the Acting Department since 2014, teaching Basic Training of Acting, Physical Training, Stage Techniques Training etc. And she actively worked as a judge for the ATEC International Students‘ Festival and International Academy Awards (Acting Award).
