Yu Haibo is a professor emeritus (University of California, Riverside) and an internationally recognized designer for dramatic performance and wide range of visual arts. He has designed over 200 projects worldwide.

He was a registered designer of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and a member of the Society of British Theatre Designers (SBTD). He successively graduated from The Central Academy of Drama China, Leeds University UK and Saint Martins College of Art and Design London, UK.

His publications include books: Essentials of Scenography in the West (Theatre Press, 2016), Into the Narrative Space (Theatre Press, 2020), A Centenary History of American Film Design (Theatre Press, 2023), Devised and Collaborative Theatre (Chapter Two: Set Design) (The Crowood Press UK).

Yu Haibo has been invited as a foreign expert for Stage Design Department in Mar. 2019. He joined the research work“the Series of Books on the World Stage Design”Project, and conducted public lectures for Master and PhD candidates.
