Suzuki Tadashi was a founder of the SCOT Troupe and Festival which was the first international theatre festival in Japan. He was also a director creating the Actor‘s Training Method of his own.
He has been appointed as the Art Director of Shizuoka Performing Art Centre (1995-2007), the Committee Member of International Theatre Olympics, the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Japan Performing Art Foundation (2000 to 2010), and he was also one of the founders of the BeSeTO Theatre Festival.
His theatre works including The Trojan Women, Dionysos, King Lear, Cyrano, Madam Sade etc. Besides those works created by the SCOT Troupe, he has also directed several international artistic works, including The Legend of King Lear, co-created with 4 regional leading theatres in the USA, King Lear directed for the Moscow Art Theatre, Oedipus the King, co-directed with the Theatre Olympics and Dusseldorf Theatre and Electra directed fro the Taganka Theatre Moscow. He wrote several book illustrated his theories on acting, including The way of Acting, Theatre of Suzuki Tadashi etc.
Mr. Suzuki Tadashi was appointed as our honorary professor in 2014, and paid several visits to our Academy. Since 2015, we chose nearly 30 teachers and students from the Acting Department each year to study his Actor‘s Training Method.
