Mr. Hao Rong is a CPC member, a professor and a PhD supervisor. He is President of the CAD and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the CAD.
He serves as the Vice Director of the MOE Steering Committee for the Teaching of Theatre, TV & Film Arts at Higher Education Institutions. Besides, he is the vice president of both Beijing Film Association and China Musical Association, and a special research fellow of China Federation of Literary and Art. Also, he is Secretary-General of World Theatre Education Alliance, as well as Director-General of Asia Theatre Education Centre.
Mr. Hao graduated from the Department of Acting of the CAD and obtained a master’s degree in Theatre and Traditional Chinese Theatre (Xiqu). He had successively held many posts at the Department of Acting, from Section Chief of the Teaching and Research for Speech, Vice Dean, to Secretary of the Party Branch, and then Dean, before he became the Assistant to President of the CAD and then Vice President. In November 2018, he was appointed as the President of the CAD.
He has engaged in the teaching, research and management of the Studies of Acting in Theatre & Film (Musical) for a long time and has contributed to the teaching reform and exploration in this field at the CAD. Works he directed included The Butcher, Miss Julie, Come to A Bad End, Weddings and Funerals, Vienna Coffee in the Cup, Marriage, Hamlet, The Orphan of Zhao, Xiaojing Hutong, etc. He acted in such plays as Couples in Relationship Crisis, The Eldest Son, and The Cherry Orchard. He has won the ‘Golden Lion’ Director Award of Chinese Theatre, ‘Excellent Course’ Prize at the CAD, Second Prize (Nationally) by Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation, First Prize in Teaching Achievements of Higher Education in Beijing, ‘Prominent Teacher’ Award of Beijing Universities, etc., and titles like Talent of ‘Four Key Projects’ by Beijing Municipal Department of Publicity. He is granted Special Government Allowances by the State Council.
