Prof. Sun Daqing is a CPC member and a PhD supervisor. He now serves as a Vice President of the CAD, a member of Standing Committee of Party Committee, and Head of the CAD's Academic Committee.

He is a member of the National Art Graduate Education Steering Committee, Chairman of the International Stage Design Students’ Works Exchange, Director of Beijing Association of Higher Education, Editor-in-chief of Academic Journal 'Drama', Director of the Arts Committe of the CAD's Experimental Theatre Troupe, eas well as Director of CAD Research Centre of Chinese Cultural Tourism Performances.

For years, he has been engaged in the teaching, theoretical research and practice of stage design, and has published academic papers, monographs, and textbooks including Visual Art in Drama and Contemporary Art, Basics of Stage Design, Stage Art, etc. He worked as a stage designer for modern plays, traditional Chinese theatres, western operas, and puppetry theatres among other theatrical forms. He is famous for his designs for Visitors on the Icy Mountain (an opera), Deng Shichang (Shanghai opera), The Xi’an Incident (a Beijing opera), etc.

He has won multiple awards and honors, including 'Best Stage Design' of the 5th Minorities Art Festival of China, 'Best Stage Design' in the 8th Chinese Drama ‘Golden Lion’ Award, Academy Award of the China Institute of Stage Design, Talent of ‘Four Key Projects’ by Beijing Municipal Department of Publicity, Teaching Award of Beijing Higher Education, and 'Outstanding Teaching Materials' for Undergraduates of Beijing Universities. His works are included in authoritative collections at home and abroad, such as World Stage Design 1990-2005, China Stage Design 1983-1999, and China Stage Design 2000-2010.
